Frequently Asked Questions
How much does it cost to rent a bike?
The daily cost for renting a bike with us will not be more than 1 euro a day.
The longer you rent the cheaper it will become. The price per month and total pricing you can find on this price page
Where can we find the B-Cycle-It shop?
Because we strive to make it as easy as possible for all students we mostly come to your University.
You MUST make an appointment with us via email and we will come to your University to either to deliver a bike or perform repairs. In some cases we ask you to come to the shop.
How can we reserve a bike?
Reserving a bike is pretty simple, you either use the reservation page or you can send us an email.
In the email remember to send us your height, so we can prepare a proper bike for you.
And tell us from which University you are.
What happens when the bike gets stolen?
Unfortunately if the bike gets stolen, you will lose the deposit.
We provide you with 2 awesome locks and proper instructions on how to lock it.
This should minimize the risks of theft. Plus all our bikes should be parked inside as much as possible.
How much is the deposit?
The deposit is only 50 euro’s for the basic model.
For the Traditional model the deposit is 75 euro’s.
When do I get my deposit back?
When you hand in the bike back to us in good state, including keys.
We will then be happy to return your deposit as you’ve return our “Baby” back 😉
What happens when something on the bike breaks?
Depending on what breaks. If it something that breaks because of unusual use it will be charged separately. Or if something breaks by fault of someone else.
If it is something that occurs due to the regular wear and tear of using a rented bike, we will off course repair this free of charge.
To give an example:
If your saddle breaks because you were riding with 3 friends on it and doing kick-flips while driving blindfolded, well then you will be charged.
If you saddle breaks while you were driving alone and the saddle show signs of rust, then you will not be charged.
What happens if something on the bike gets stolen?
Again, because we are a non-profit organization and we do not use big margins on the rent,
we are forced to charge for items which we will have to purchase ourselves to fix it.
Why should we rent and not buy a bike?
It is pretty simple.
1. If you want to buy a bike legally from a official shop you will pay at least €120 for a not so good bike.
2. You do not want the stress of trying to sell or give away your bike while you only have a few days to return home.
3. You never know what kind of bike you get when you buy, you might have to pay more later just to keep it functioning. or replacing parts.
Is it possible to return my bike before the end date?
Yes of course, just send us an email at least 2 weeks before you leave and we will make an appointment to receive the bike and return you the deposit.
Can I rent the bike longer than the end date?
Sure, if you let us know at least 2 weeks before your renting period ends we can draft an extension on your contract.
You will receive the same discount on the extra month as you received on your regular renting period.
How do I know what size I am?
It is easy. If you are used to measure yourself by inches, just multiply it by 2.54 and you will have centimeters. or google it 😛
